ON ARRIVAL

We suggest using Car Park E on arrival – it is clearly signposted when you arrive on campus and a short walk from here to the AMATA building. If you are staying on site, you can drive into Glasney Lodge to unload luggage before heading to Car Park E to park. Car parking charges are set by Falmouth University and can be found at this link.

Conference registration is open from 3pm on the Wednesday before Agile on the Beach.

AMATA and Falmouth University accommodation are non-smoking. There are designated smoking areas available – you should use these.

Wi Fi

This is provided by Falmouth University – look for ‘GUEST’ and follow the joining instructions. This will give you access that will work across the whole campus, including accommodation.

FIRE SAFETY

We’re not expecting any fire tests or alarms in the AMATA building or Falmouth University accommodation.

If you’re the first person to see a fire:
– set off the nearest fire alarm.
– call 999 immediately.
– ring the emergency number: 07376 978153

If you hear the fire alarm in the AMATA building:

OTHER INFORMATION

There’s a Gym and Sports Centre on the Campus for you to use and enjoy. Up-to-date rates and opening times are listed on the website.

Cloakroom / left luggage space is clearly signposted within the AMATA building. This is not monitored and Agile on the Beach can take no responsibility for any contents left there.

Speaker sessions are recorded and will be available at a later date on our YouTube channel. If there’s a session you’re unable to attend we can provide a recording if you don’t want to miss out. Get in touch for details.

About Accommodation

Accommodation for conference attendees is provided at Glasney Lodge. It is ‘on-campus’ accommodation that is simple, safe and clean! You’ll have your own, secure room with bed, desk and shower room. There are shared kitchen facilities between the 4-5 rooms in each block. Bedding and towels are provided in the rooms and you should bring your own toiletries.

CHECK IN/OUT

Check in at Glasney Lodge from 4pm on the Wednesday afternoon before the Conference. If you are arriving after this you can check in at any time. Check out is by 10am on the last day of your stay. We have limited space at the venue where you can leave any luggage at your own risk.

(If you anticipate arriving after 10pm please get in touch and we’ll arrange for your rooms keys to be available at Glasney Lodge)

If you’re travelling on the Wednesday, we suggest heading to Glasney Lodge to check in before registering for the Conference (and heading to the Secret Garden Party!). When doing this you’ll receive the key to your accommodation along with its exact location.

There will be a member of the Agile on the Beach team available at peak periods at Glasney Lodge to deal with any queries you may have.

GLASNEY LODGE TO AMATA

On Wednesday afternoon/evening and Thursday morning keep a look out for Agile on the Beach staff, chalk floor signs, large boards and signage all over campus that will direct you towards the AMATA building (where the conference is held). We’ll also have a number of “walking bus” groups that will help you find the venue throughout the duration of the conference.

PARKING

About Travel

All of the following information is provided in good faith and is as up to date as possible based on data in August 2023. This gives you a good guide for 2024 and we will keep it up to date as we get nearer the actual dates.

GETTING TO AGILE ON THE BEACH

For the conference and accommodation please use the main university campus entrance: TR10 9LX

For deliveries to the conference use: AMATA, Falmouth University, Penryn Campus, Parkengue, Penryn, TR10 9EP

FLYING TO CORNWALL

The closest airport to the conference is Newquay, which is about a 45-minute drive to the conference.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

Coastline Travel operate from Newquay Airport, if you mention you are travelling to the conference and wish to share transfers they will help facilitate this 01637 860006. AOTB takes no responsibility for organising airport transfers.

TRAVEL BY CAR

– Take the A30 west from Exeter until you reach the A39 sign-posted Truro.
– Drive through Truro following signs A39 to Falmouth.
– Follow the A39 towards Falmouth until you come to the Treliever roundabout where you will see signs to the Penryn Campus.
– At Treliever roundabout take the first exit and the campus is on the right.

TRAVEL FROM LONDON

Typical journey times to Cornwall from London area are 4 to 5 hours depending on the time of year and traffic conditions. See http://www.trafficengland.com/ for traffic news.

Please note: Be wary of SatNav systems to locate the Campus – Google Maps using postcode TR10 9FE gets you to the entrance but please follow the signs from there.

TRAVEL BY CAR (PARKING)

Disabled parking facilities are available on campus – please contact us if you need any special assistance.

There is no conference parking at the AMATA building itself, but there is access for sponsors and speakers for loading and unloading of equipment. Please contact the team directly if you need to bring a car up to the AMATA building, as it is not accessed via the main campus entrance.

TRAVEL BY TRAIN

The nearest train station to the campus is Penryn on the Maritime Line branch and connects to the mainline at Truro station.

It’s about 5 hours from London Paddington with usually just one change at Truro and there are frequent services throughout the day. There are also Cross Country trains via Plymouth from the North.

Great Western also offers the Night Riviera Sleeper between the West Country and London Paddington, more details on this can be found via their website. GWR

The conference is about a twenty-minute uphill walk from Penryn station or a short taxi journey (there is no taxi rank at the station, but local taxi numbers are provided on a separate page).

SHUTTLE BUS

There will be a courtesy shuttle bus running from Penryn train station up to the campus between the times of 14.55 – 19.30.

Arrivals after this time will need to make their own way from Penryn station to the campus.

Travel by Bus or Coach

National Express coaches stop in Penryn.

Local buses U1, 2, 41 and 88 run from Falmouth Moor, via Penryn, to the University campus. For bus services within the southwest visit www.travelinesw.com

KNIGHT BUS (FALMOUTH LINE)

The Knight Bus (Falmouth Line) is a triple-decker, purple AEC Regent III RT that assists stranded individuals of the wizarding community through public transportation. To hail the Knight Bus, you should stick your wand hand in the air in the same manner that a Muggle might do while hailing a bus in the United Kingdom.

Please note… It is currently unknown if the Knight Bus will stop for attendees of Agile on the Beach.
