What to Expect
As a speaker, you’ll not only get the opportunity to present your ideas to a passionate and attentive audience, but you’ll also gain access to all conference sessions, networking events, and the chance to enjoy the stunning Cornish coast. Our event is known for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect environment to share, learn, and grow.

Some changes from our speaker team! (Chris, Gwen and Steve)
Each year, we listen to CFP community feedback, and this year is no different. Changes for 2025 include rebranding our tracks, and classifying talk/workshop types, to clarify session intent during the CFP and on the day. But the biggest change is a new speaker question:

Q. Do you identify as an under-represented minority (no – prefer not to say – yes)
This tells us if you self-identify as part of a URM in the IT industry e.g. by ethnicity, gender, disability, neurodiversity, and more. It helps us understand if we’re creating an inclusive environment. This isn’t shown to reviewers

We’re asking this question to better understand under-representation within the Agile on the Beach community. There’s a good definition here, albeit for TV rather than the IT industry. Diversity is so important to us, and part of that is people being able to self-identify. We know of other industry events where well-intentioned organisers identify a speaker as diverse based on their LinkedIn page. We’ve done that in previous years, and we don’t believe this is good enough.

If you have any feedback, please get in touch at cfp@agileonthebeach.com. We are always learning and your feedback is valuable to us. And if you’d like help writing a proposal, just ask!
