Agile on the Beach conference attracted an international audience with
participants logging on across Europe.Author and Agile coaching expert, Rachel Davies, is a key speaker at the event taking
place in Cornwall this September.
She gave an exclusive insight into her speech on common problems caused by Agile
when she chaired the first webinar on Friday (July 22).
The online seminar was followed by a question and answer session, which attracted
an audience from across the UK and Europe.
Rachel said: “It was great to have so many questions as it really gave me something to
think about prior to the conference. Judging by the number of people who
attended this first pre-conference webinar, I think the ones that follow will
be very popular.”
Participants logged on from as far away as Norway and throughout the UK including Cornwall,
Warwick, Guilford and London.
Agile is a different approach to developing and writing software. It focuses on being more efficient and effective, which reduces the risk of projects running over budget and schedule.
Using Agile, tasks are delivered faster, at a higher quality, with less problems
meaning the success of a project is vastly improved compared with traditional

audience who were keen to put questions directly to her.
“We have launched the webinars to give people a taster of the types of discussions
that are likely to crop up at the conference. The online community has a
massive interest and influence in Agile, so it made sense to stage events that
would appeal to users.”
The next webinar is due to take place on Wednesday, August 3 with Kevlin Henney, an
independent Agile consultant and trainer.

Cornish businesses, Allan Kelly will be giving a webinar asking the question
What is Agile?
His pre-conference webinar on Wednesday, August 10, will be held at 1pm. Allan
specialises in helping software companies adopt and deepen Agile and Lean
practices through training, consulting and coaching.
On Saturday, August 16 at 12pm, Chris Parsons will hold a webinar. Chris has been
crafting software professionally for 12 years, and working primarily with Ruby
for the last five.
Benjamin Mitchell will discuss applying the Lean Start-up Approach and how to use
continuous innovation to create radically successful businesses. His webinar
will take place on Monday, August 22 at 12pm.
